BABYBJÖRN High Chair – A Review

Nov 17

Things have changed since I had my first baby 7 years ago. Back then, highchairs were all about big foofy cushions and bright colours. I can’t tell you the number of times I had to remove the entire cushion, take it outside and hose it clean. The food that got smooshed into the folds and flaps (and then hidden away so you couldn’t see it) was quite disgusting.

These days we are a little bit smarter and we like our products to be sleek, smooth, easy to clean, and safe for baby. As always, BABYBJÖRN have been listening, and have just released a new highchair that ticks all the boxes.

Designed to be used from when baby is 6 months (or when baby can sit on their own), the highchair can be used right up until around 3 years of age (max height 95cm).

The seat is made from recyclable plastic and is PVC-free and contains no bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, cadmium, lead, bromine or chlorine. There are no nooks, crannies or corners, so it is so easy to clean down with just a damp cloth.

The tray can be removed and can also be placed in the dishwasher – which is great to do every few days for a really good clean.

I have never seen such a clever system to keep baby safe and secure in the chair. The tray actually holds the baby in place with a 2-step lock (for extra safety), and will stop baby from standing up which can often be the case in other chairs.

Studies have shown that babies should also have foot support whilst seated, and I really believe this encourages them to be a better eater as they are comfortable at meal times.

The tray can be adjusted to fit snuggly around babies belly which ensures maximum comfort and safety as baby grows.

We have been taking the opportunity to have some weekends away, and I have been in desperate need for a highchair that can we can take with us (we already have the BABYBJÖRN Travel Cot which is brilliant!). The BABYBJÖRN Highchair is the ideal solution because it is lightweight, and extremely compact when folded. I love that it can be taken with us when going to restaurants (I am seriously over dirty restaurant highchairs), as well as when we visit friends and family (how much fun it is eating dinner while wrestling a squirming monkey on your lap??)

Here is the Highchair in the back of our car with a fully stocked boot. It had no problem fitting in at all.

Because it is so compact, I was a little worried about how sturdy it would be. I was amazed that even when Lucy was throwing herself back and forth (as she does when she is STARVING and waiting for her food), the chair didn’t even budge.

This is a fantastic chair as it looks great, is extremely safe and comfortable for baby, is easy to clean, and can be folded up for easy storage and portability. It is normally $299.95, but is on sale now at Baby Village for $269.96. I personally love the white, but check out the funky red!

Nikki that is such a great point. Sometimes it’s easy to forget to that great quality products will outperform and outlast many others. They have very clever designers!

  3. loving the fact its made from recycled plastic!! That’s fab!

Neen, I think technically it’s made from recyclable plastic (that is plastic that CAN be recycled) as opposed to plastic that has already been recycled, but either way it’s a big thumbs up for being ecofriendly :)
