My Baby Girl is Moving Out!
Mar 03
I always knew this day would come, but I didn’t think it day would arrive so soon. In my mind, Lucinda was born only yesterday – maybe last week at a pinch. But my gorgeous girl is now nearly 6 months old. And she is getting so BIG!
We have always shared our bedroom with the babies for the first 6 months. For one it makes it that much easier for the night feeds in the early weeks, but I draw so much comfort from having her close by. Somewhere I can watch her little chest rise and fall, where I can hear her tiny snuffles as she sleeps, and most importantly, I love opening my eyes each day and catching sight of her sleepy eyes and early morning smiles.
But at 6 months old, Lucy has just about grown out of her cradle, and has been sleeping through the night from about 8 weeks old. So there is really no reason for her to stay in our bedroom anymore. Except of course for the fact, that my heart will break just a little bit when she moves out. I know it’s only down the hall, but this will be Lucy’s first step towards independence. In my head, I can see how quickly the years will fly by and she will be moving a whole lot further than just down the hall.
I am trying to remember that as one stage passes, a new one begins. I am excited about all the firsts that Lucy will conquer over the next few months and years. She has such a bright and wonderful future ahead of her. And no-one ever achieved greatness by staying in the same place – especially not in their parent’s bedroom.
So my mission is to give her the most beautiful and comfortable bedroom that I possibly can. Because every Princess needs a Castle of her very own!
