Palm Spring Residences – Our Holiday Review
Oct 11
Holiday? What holiday? Isn’t it amazing how quickly we settle back into the humdrum of normal life after a wonderful holiday! So I have been looking back on our photos, and reminding myself of how lucky we are to have the Gold Coast so close to us. Whilst we were away, there were some great discussions on the Facebook page about accommodation, nearby attractions, and places to eat. So I thought I would do a quick re-cap about where we stayed and what we did.
I also have some exciting news to share about the Gold Coast… but more about that later.
We are big fans of Palm Beach and for our last two holidays we have stayed at Palm Springs Residences. The biggest drawcard here is that we have a 3 bedroom apartment on the ground floor (surprisingly not that easy to find) , with a MASSIVE outdoor patio area and direct access on to the beach!
I LOVE not having any roads to cross to get to the beach, and it also means we can make several short trips throughout the day instead of having to spend long hours in the sun – I could even duck up to the room and get some icy-poles for a special morning tea treat! Or I could sit and read on the lounge, and watch them all playing on the beach – the joys of holidays!!
The apartment itself had a QS bed in one room, and two singles in an adjacent room – both of which were close to the main bathroom and separate toilet. At the back was a big Master bedroom with KS bed, walk through robe, and full ensuite. There was PLENTY of room to have Lucy in the cot there, but we could also fit her into the room with single beds.
As we do every holiday, I had completed a Coles Online order to be delivered on the afternoon of our arrival. The apartment has a fully stocked kitchen (utensils, crockery, plates etc etc) so I just did an ordinary grocery shop and cooked most of our dinners there. For a change, we also had pizza and Thai which are within walking distance of the complex. On the other side of the highway, and also within walking distance, is Maccas and a 7-eleven which is handy for fresh bread, milk, and late night Sundae cravings!
On the weekends, we ventured up to the Tallebudgera Surf-Club for a full buffet breakfast – and boy did we need the walk back to recover!!!
We could then flake out by the pool, and let the kids go wild!
There is a patrolled beach a short walk away, however the beach out the front is so sheltered that we really had no issues at all with the kids paddling and boogie-boarding in the waves.
The groin is fantastic for exploring in the little rock pools and catching crabs!
There are two absolutely brilliant parks for kids just a short drive away. The first is the “Pirate Ship Park” at Currumbin (technically Palm Beach Parklands) and has a great little Cafe at one end. It also has a number of walking and bike paths which are nice and wide, and easy for the kids to ride on.
The other fantastic park is on Laguna St, and is HUGE! We spent an entire afternoon there and the kids were still not ready to go home. It’s is also next to a lovely lake which would make a perfect setting for a picnic.
At night, we could sit back and relax in front of the tele (with cable) – there is also a smaller television in the master bedroom, or have family card games on the dining table (how is it that a 3 year old can be a Uno champion??). And then in the morning, we would watch the sun rise and start all over again!
We have been booking our holidays through GCHR – Gold Coast Holiday Rentals, who manage all holiday letting at Palm Springs Residences, and many other resorts and holiday homes along the coast. And now I am pleased to welcome them as an official sponsor of Mummy Smiles! If you are planning a holiday to the Gold Coast, then you need look no further than their website for a massive selection of properties.
After spending some time looking at the properties that GCHR manage, I have decided that I really need to start exploring some other areas of the Gold Coast. Given that we have holidayed at Palm Beach every year since we got married, I am going to broaden our horizons and check out everything the Coast has to offer. So stay tuned, and share this journey with me. You might just discover somewhere that would be perfect for YOUR next holiday!

That looked like a wonderful holiday and a wonderful place to stay Nat! I love it when you find a place that is ‘just right’!! I am tempted to tell you NOT to go looking further afar as you have already found a keeper!

Well thank you for that – am noting the details – exactly what we need! we usually drive down to Currumbin for the day and return late, but have spent holiday time on the Gold Coast in the past (hubby would know which resorts/hotels).
