A Dad’s and Grandad’s Manifesto from The Smile Collective
Aug 22
** This giveaway has now closed. Congratulations to the lucky winners – Nicole L and Monica S **
The Smile Collective is my kinda place. It was established by the incredibly creative Kelly Exeter who recognised how important it was for us all to have a Smile and a bit of Happiness in our lives.
Over the past few months, I have looked on in awe as Kelly has created some of the most beautiful Manifestos, dedicated to honouring ourselves as well as the most special people around us. Kelly has an innate ability to reach into our hearts, and put into words the way we feel, and she has done it again with two of her most recent additions to her Manifestos collection – ideal gifts which are sure to make any Dad or Grandad to feel loved, valued, and understood.
The first is the Dad’s Manifesto. I love how it looks upon parenting with fresh new eyes. Quite simply – Dads are not like Mums. They have their own very special relationship with children and we, as Mums, have a lot to do with encouraging these unique relationships. The line “Watch their faces light up when you enter the room” reminds of those times my children run squealing through the house “Daddyyyyyyyyyyyyy’ssssss HOOOOME!” Surely this is both the Dad’s and the kids’ favourite time of the day.
And not to forget those very special Dads of Dads, the Grandads Manifesto is a great reflection on just how enjoyable grandchildren can be when life isn’t so busy. Grandads have all the time in the world for their grandchildren (which they often didn’t have the luxury of enjoying as a Dad). There is nothing quite like the cheeky sparkle in a Grandad’s eye, or the way he can gently lull a baby to sleep in his arms. I love watching my children with their Grandads and know how very much they are idolised by their Grandkids.
Kelly and The Smile Collective would like to help you honour a Dad or Grandad in your life, by offering an A3 print of both the Dads and Grandads Manifestos for giveaway. They are valued at $35 each. You can enter by following the details in the Rafflecopter below, including leaving a comment telling me which is your favourite part of either of these Manifestos, and which you would most like to win. Entry is open to Australian residents only and all entries must be received by midnight, Sunday 26th August.
There is also a special discount for all Mummy Smiles readers who wish to purchase a Manifesto from The Smile Collective. Simply enter the code MSFD2012, and you will qualify for a 10% discount storewide!

I love the Grandad Manifestos. The bit about lots of lollies and icecream at inappropriate times is VERY true (in our family anyway!). Love it!
Oh wow, I love the grandfather one. The last part ‘as mischievious as the young minds that call him this name’ is my dad all over. Him and my son are as thick a theives always getting into something they shouldn’t. The whole description is perfect though, love it!!
the dad one is so my husband especially the bit about the bad jokes in front of friend <3 it
The line about Grandads being a fixer of toys, rings very true in our family!
Definitely the “you are their idol” part of the Dad manifesto – so true in our house! My partner works away and seeing them reunited at the airport each week is priceless
I love both!! Love the ‘tell them a story’ on the dad’s one. Nothing makes my heart smile more than watching my husband with our Miss One when they are reading together. But love the grandads ‘sparkle in the eye’. Love to either one!!
I like the dad one. I especially like the part ” Watch their faces light up when you enter the room” my daughter squeals and gets so excited when my husband walks through the door. I love watching her excitement when he’s about to pick her up – priceless
The dad one is gorgeous!! Love the part about watching their faces light up, Their faces don’t light up like that when I come home (must be a daddy thing)!!!
My kids don’t have either grand-dad anymore
It makes me sad to know that they won’t ever remember first hand what a wonderful dad my dad was (he died when my son was 4.5 and my daughter was 8 weeks old. My son remembers a bit now, but it is fading).
I just hope their dad is as good as my dad was (I think he might be).
Would love to win the Dad’s manifesto.
Love Kelly’s work and proud to say I have dome some work for her myself.
I like the dad one in particular the part about the children’s faces when their dad walks in. My daughter yells daddy when he walks through the door and gives him a massive hug. We have always put an importance on daddy coming home.
