I had such great intentions with my children and their car seats….
My children will NEVER eat in their carseats.
My children will NEVER drink in their carseats.
My children will ALWAYS go to the toilet before they get in the car.
My children will sit quietly, make no mess, play with no toys, keep clean, stay dry, and leave their car seats as fresh as they day I bought them.

My children (especially Lucy) spend a LOT of time in our car. Now that we have school runs twice a day, plus extra-curricular and general life activities, and of course our favourite road trips, I will do whatever it takes to make sure that the kids are comfortable, watered and fed while we are on the road. If that means that they have afternoon tea in the car, then so be it. If it means that they have their bottle of water next to them, with the risk of it being spilled at some point, then so be it.
It means that my car seats do get pretty grubby.
And whilst I wash them very regularly, I am always amazed at all the “stuff” that I seem to find squished into the back of the seat. Sometimes I think I could start an orchard from all the seeds, skins, and scraps I find there!
