Life Lessons from Dr Seuss: Best Quotes
Apr 11
Last week we went to see The Lorax at the movies for Katie’s birthday.
While watching it I realised how often I think of Dr Seuss quotes in my head, and use them as a source of guidance and inspiration. So I thought I would put together my favourite quotes – the ones that shape my life, and the lessons that I would like to pass on to my children.
What is your favourite Dr Seuss book or quote?

I LOOOOOOOVE Dr Seuss quotes … and you have pretty much covered all my favourites!
Thanks Kel – it was so hard to reduce them to just a few. He has so many beautiful and inspiring messages!
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” I was surprised when I first learned this was a quote from Dr Seuss. I also love the title of the book “Oh, the Places You’ll Go”. It’s so positive and exciting.
My favourite book! And I gave that to Lucy for her Naming Day – I love thinking about all the places she will go. I am going to do a bit more research of Dr Seuss and see if I can discover more of his “grown-up” quotes!
Inspirational! I have many Dr Seuss books in our collection. Fantastic on so many levels aren’t they? Some of the best books to teach reading because of all the repetition and rhyming, but useful for life lessons as well.
Yes he really was a genius. Quite ahead of his time in many ways!
Oh, I do love Dr Seuss books. We started with the girls on some lift the flap books and have progressed through. We still have a LOT of Dr Seuss yet to read in our house – and looking forward to it.

I am so thankful that there are sooo many!!! I would love to have a HUGE collection of them all one day!
How funny Nat! I can just imagine you having whole conversations in rhythmical Seuss-speak!!
Hehe Anna – that would be so hilarious. And believe me I did try it after I read your comment
We love Dr Seuss here and have loads of books… I love the rhyme, the rhythm that goes with them. Our current favourite is green eggs and ham…. and it’s infiltrated the way hubby and I speak to each other…. and the kids – my fave, used more frequently then I would like to – “you do not like them. So you say. Try them! Try them! And you may. Try them and you may, I say.” Does it work? Rarely! At least it makes them smile!
OMG Cath that is so funny – we do that too! That Sam-I-am, That Sam-I-am!
I think I need to get into these books, I love the messages!
Oh Leah – they are so beautiful. You will love them!
Green Eggs and Ham was my favourite book as a kid, just loved it so much. I bought it for my bub while I was pregnant as well as the Lorax and will read them to her when she’s a little less interested in chewing the books lol
Oh Susie isn’t it so much fun to buy books when pregnant?!!! MWhat great books you chose!
I remember reading Dr Seuss as a kid but its only now as an adult reading to my babies that I have discovered how wonderful they are!! Green Eggs & Ham was always a favourite but I’m not sure we actually EVER got to the end LOL. I LOVE “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” its a truly wonderful book & have also given it as a present for 18th birthday. Love love love Dr Seuss.
It’s been tooo long since I have read Dr Seuss! I love those quotes. Think I will pull all the books out now. I tried reading them to M when she was little but she wasn’t fussed. Now that she is 4, I think it is the perfect time!
Yes definitely a perfect time!!! The rhythm makes it so much fun to read!!
