BABYBJÖRN Booster Chair: Review and Giveaway
Aug 06
** This giveaway has now closed. Congratulations to the winners – Rhonda P and Michelle G! **
There comes a time in a toddler’s life when it’s time to say good-bye to their beloved high chair, taking one step closer to being an independent little person. The trouble is that there is often a transition stage from when the toddlers are too big for a high chair, and yet not big enough for a normal chair which can be very frustrating and uncomfortable for the little people. What to do, what to do.
BABYBJÖRN have solved this dilemma with their brand new Booster Chair.
Recommended from ages 3 and up, the Booster Chair helps children sit at the correct height at the table, without the kids having to kneel (TERRIBLE for knees!) or use cushions (which can easily slide off the chair, taking the kids with them!).
The Booster Chair weighs 1.2kg and has a little handle so that it can easily be carried by the child (time for them to do some of the work I say!).
But this isn’t just an ordinary booster seat. There are some very key features which ensure that your child is safe and secure when seated in the booster. Firstly, the base of the booster has many non-slip mini pads to ensure that there is no slippage.
The non-slip strap wraps securely underneath the chair seat to ensure that booster remains firmly positioned on the chair.
When not in use, the strap is simply retracted and clasp fastened, so there are no flapping straps to get caught on things.
This is then locked into place with a two-stage lock which prevents any child from releasing the Booster Chair when they are strapped to the chair. It requires an adult to push and twist the lock to tighten and release the strap.
Of course one of the biggest drawcards for us as mothers is that it is very easy to clean. Made of smooth Swedish-produced plastic (PVC-free and contains no phthalates or BPA), there are no inaccessible corners where bits of food can hide, so you can simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth (or baby wipes – how much do we love baby wipes!!).
The Booster Chair measures 35 x 35 x 14cm and raises the child by 7.5cm.
Because of it’s compact size, it’s easy to throw into the basket of a pram so it can be used at a restaurant or foodcourt, or keep it in the car for those times when you decide to call in to Grandma’s or a friend’s house. They are easily stackable so would be ideal for saving space in restaurants or cafes.
Now technically at 22 months, Lucy is probably too young to use the Booster Chair on a regular basis, but she was very comfortable in it, and it certainly gave her enough extra height for her to be at the dining table.
Unexpectedly, when I took it off the chair, she wandered over to it while it was sitting on the floor, and perched down on it. She seemed happy to just sit in it as a chair!
The BABYBJÖRN Booster Chair fits most chairs, and it should be used only on chairs with four legs and a backrest. It it not for use on bar stools, folding chairs or chairs with a round seat.
BABYBJÖRN Australia have kindly offered TWO Booster Chairs, valued at $89.95 each, to be given away to two Mummy Smiles Readers. Simply follow ALL of the steps in the Rafflecopter below (ALL OF THE STEPS please!), and make sure you comment below with why you love sharing mealtimes as a family.

Our LO is 15mo and loves sitting at the dining table on the chairs like a big boy. I’m currently looking for a booster seat so he can see over the table lol. I’ll have to look at these ones.
They’re all too busy eating to get into mischief or make a racket!
It’s a time to sit all together and enjoy being with each other
I love family meal times because it’s the one time of the day when we all spend quality time together and talk about our day.
Family fun over food..chatting, laughing!
Meal times are the only time the entire family sits down together with no distractions and just enjoys each others company
It’s the only time of the day we are altogether so it’s very special.

Mealtime is about sharing – we share our food, our stories or experiences and our joys.
Mealtime is our special ‘family’ time. I have fond memories of mealtimes with my family as a child and this sense of belonging and love is something I hope to instill in my child.
It is lovely having everyone around the table and sharing our days, and it is lovely having everyone sharing the cleaning up afterwards!
I love sharing mealtimes as a family as it is a chance for all of us to sit down and take a breath, and relax and enjoy our company. One of my favourite things is to watch my family enjoy the food I have prepared for them.
It’s such a nice way of spending quality family time altogether.
We always eat diner together at the table every night, and say grace, something we didnt always do growing up… Great opportunity to see how everyone’s day has gone plus I can keep check on my kids making sure they eating all their greens.
Sharing time together
It is great to be altogether with the Family and catch up with everyones day.
meal times are great spent together to laugh and enjoy each other’s company before splitting off for TV, homework, housework etc
Sharing meal times together is a great time to share about the day – highs and lows, learn table manners, share a joke and build up and encourage my team Mason. My husband and I have fond memories eating and talking with our families when we were young and value the importance of taking time out of our hectic schedules to stop, eat and talk.
I love sharing meal times as its a great way for the family to reconnect at the end of the day
Lots to talk about at meal time. Table manners, fun and family reinforcement makes meal times the most valued time of the day.
Children are the ultimate imitators; if they see you eating veggies etc they will too. Nothing makes me happier than babies with full stomachs (it makes me hopeful for a good nights sleep!)
I learned very young how important family is when i lost mine. Now I have family every moment, every mealtime, is a time to be shared and treasured.
I love the cheesy smiles from my 2 when they actually like something healthy I’ve made for dinner.
With four young children mealtimes are NEVER boring!
